A Special MERRY CHRISTMAS - BUON NATALE

I prepared this post a few days ago. I thought to wish you a Merry Christmas this evening. I'm Sure you are dining for celebrating a new special Christmas with your family or maybe all alone... But wherever you are and whoever you are -alone or with friends- I want to wish You " MERRY CHRISTMAS" from the bottom of my heart. An other Christmas... an other Year...

In the meanwhile I have the occasion to present you a past work made in collaboration with Peiwen (Oiseau deNim). The Title of this first book is: "Les Recettes des Grands Chefs" (Great Chefs' recipes) I have made for Peiwen these three kind of books many months ago but I wanted to publish them just now in occasion of Christmas. Why? Because the picture of the principal book makes me always think on Christmas. Peiwen has given to me the pictures for the covers.

The inside text is in legible French language and each book looks as a real book. The attention to details and the pictures inside of them can make an high quality result. Three books and Three different titles: Les Recettes des Grands ChefsMacaron - Vive les gourmandsSensations - Vive les gourmands

Auguriiiiiiiiiiiiii a tutti.... amici e nemici....
Merry Christmas to you all!!

Pre-Raphaelite Love Poetry: POEMS by CHRISTINA ROSSETTI

It has been a long time since I have written to you. I hope you all are fine. Unfortunately I was very busy with my job so I didn't publish anything of new. In the evening I was very tired after my working day but finally I have finished a new book.
Well it is a very rare collectible book written by an Italian-British poet, Christina Rossetti, whose name was familiar to me because She is the sister of the famous painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti. The original book in 1:1 scale is a rarity with very high price due to the beauty of the cover and the artistic wealth of the content. But I want before to describe well the book and then let you know the story of the author ... Are you ready? This is a long post.
So I can publish my work and it happens just now with the approach of Advent and Christmas Time. Which book? "Poems" by Christina Rossetti was Edited in this rare version illustrated by Florence Harrison, in 1910 by Blackie and Son Limited. In my version I tried to respect, as much as possible, the original version. Only the spine of the cover is not as in the original because I did't find it but these last days I found it so maybe I'll try to adjust better the cover.
Christina Rossetti was born in London in 1830, one of four children of Italian parents. Her father was the poet Gabriele Rossetti (1783-1854), professor of Italian at King’s College from 1831. He resigned in 1845 because of blindness. All the four children in the family became writers, Dante Gabriel also gained fame as a painter.
Christina Rossetti
In 1850, under the pseudonym Ellen Alleyne, she contributed seven poems to the Pre-Raphaelite journal The Germ, which had been founded by her brother William Michael and his friends. Rossetti is best known for her ballads and her mystic religious lyrics. Her poetry is marked by symbolism and intense feeling. Rossetti's best-known work, "Goblin Market" and "Other Poems", was published in 1862.

The collection established Rossetti as a significant voice in Victorian poetry. The "Prince's Progress" and "Other Poems", appeared in 1866 followed by "Sing-Song", a collection of verse for children, in 1872 (with illustrations by Arthur Hughes). Christina Rossetti is increasingly being reconsidered a major Victorian poet. She has been compared to Emily Dickinson but the similarity is more in the choice of spiritual topics than in poetic approach. Rossetti's poetry being one of intense feelings, her technique refined within the forms established in her time.
Dante Gabriel Rossetti
Molto bella comunque.
"Ancilla Domini" by dante Gabriel Rossetti
Dante Gabriel Rossetti's "Ecce Ancilla Domini" (The Annunciation) was painted in 1850, and is thus one of the earliest Pre-Raphaelite paintings. The model is Christina (Virgin Mary).
Ricordami
DI CRISTiNA ROSSETTI

Tu ricordami quando sarò andata
lontano, nella terra del silenzio,
né più per mano mi potrai tenere,
né io potrò il saluto ricambiare.

Ricordami anche quando non potrai
giorno per giorno dirmi dei tuoi sogni:
ricorda e basta, perché a me, lo sai,
non giungerà parola né preghiera.

Pure se un po' dovessi tu scordarmi
e dopo ricordare, non dolerti:
perché se tenebra e rovina lasciano
tracce dei miei pensieri del passato,
meglio per te sorridere e scordare
che dal ricordo essere tormentato.
Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.

Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Allora... Parliamo un po' della Confraternita dei Pre-raffaeliti... Tra i suoi esponenti principali abbiamo: Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Hunt, Ford Madox Brown, John Everett Millais, William Morris e Edward Burne-Jones.
The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (also known as the Pre-Raphaelites) was a group of English painters, poets, and critics, founded in 1848 by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais, Ford Madox Brown, William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones. The three founders were soon joined by William Michael Rossetti, James Collinson, Frederic George Stephens, Thomas Woolner and John William Waterhouse to form a seven-member "brotherhood".

The group's intention was to reform art by rejecting what it considered the mechanistic approach first adopted by the Mannerist artists who succeeded Raffaello and Michelangelo. Its members believed the Classical poses and elegant compositions of Raffaello Sanzio in particular had been a corrupting influence on the academic teaching of art, hence the name "Pre-Raphaelite".

I'm finishing the gifts promised for the last Giveaways won. I'm late but I hope to ship soon. I hope also to start again to read your blog. I miss you...
I'm sure I will publish a post to wish you Merry Christmas but I would like, however, beginning now to wish you a joyful and peaceful Advent and Christmas Time. Please, for next Christmas rush buying gifts.... Stop a while and take a moment to get into the real Christmas Spirit with love and generosity ... believers and not believers. Next weeks I hope to show you the cute and beautiful gifts that Jennifer (Plushpussicat) sent to me.

Many Hugs to all!! Un abbraccio a tutti!!

Also this year, with the approach of Halloween, I want to tell you some true ghost stories that have fascinated and intrigued me in recent years. Thrilling atmosphere whose stories tell of unexplained facts that still have not found answers. Would you make a magical mistery trip together?

This is the story of Leila Carbone, the "Phantom of the Opera", which made the Theater "Carlo Felice" in Genoa his home. It was not easy to find the material on her but, at last I have enough documentation for telling you the story.

Over the centuries, artists, celebrities and common people crowded the rooms of this well-known theater. Since the early years of the 1800 were reported strange facts proven by numerous witnesses: unexplained music origin, loud laughter that burst in empty rooms, steps and whispered words... even a singer who loses his voice. Is there any truth in all these witnesses? Perhaps we'll never know but there is something that goes beyond the science and rationality. Something that leads us to believe in what we don't see. In fact, if in the morning these stories are told as legends and superstitions, at night they become terribly more "real" and ... distressing.

The Teatro Carlo Felice was built on the ruins of San Domenico Church and adjoining convent, which was demolished in 1826 to begin the work. The theater was completed in 1828 and the inauguration was given in staging the opera "Bianca e Fernando" by Vincenzo Bellini. The stages of the Carlo Felice hosted kings and queens of Europe and the rich European nobility who came to listen to these melodramas very much in vogue at the time.

I teatri antichi mi affascinano terribilmente.

The ancient theaters fascinate me terribly. Just close your eyes and imagine all the emotions that these places must be witnessed. Actors and singers, conductors and musicians and then who was behind the scenes... craftsmen and engineers... an invisible world behind each performance. Trepidation and fear, triumph and humiliation... all emotions that are somehow trapped in these walls as a battery capable of storing energy. Nothing dies but everything is transformed.
The first rumors of a ghost, circulating in 1850 when Sofia Corvelli, a young singer of extraordinary beauty and talent is preparing to go on stage. The girl is alone in her dressing room deep in thought. Suddenly the room temperature falls and a feminine figure materializes in midair. With an instinctive reaction Sofia attacking the intruder. The shadow shrinks and disappears. Sofia immediately has notice that something has changed ... she is no longer able to speak. The shadow stole her voice ... All is compromised… But just a moment before the director gives the announcement to the people, Sofia made a last attempt. Sofia Corvelli in fact, had many talents, some well-known as the voice and the extraordinary beauty, but She also had another secret he kept well: it was a medium. Sofia knew that ghosts were placated with an offer. She runs so suddenly in his dressing room, grab a white flower and places it gently on the exact spot where the shadow had appeared. At the same moment her voice back. Opera and the singer was an absolute triumph.
Popular tradition says that the Phantom of the Opera appeared at the singer, was Leila Carbone. Young and graceful daughter of a very famous lute maker in Genoa, lived in the second half of the ‘500. Unfortunately, She falls in love with a young nobleman of that time whose mother was not happy of that union. The bad and rich woman caused the ruin of Leila. The Young girl was seriously accused of witchcraft. Singled out as guilty of the worst infamies, was tried and imprisoned in the dungeons of San Domenico Church where She have found the agony of death after the Agony of her Life. The place is precisely the Theater Carlo Felice.
The Guardian of the theatre tells us:
"I was walking around the perimeter out of the theater to see if everything was OK. To enter again, I put the key in the door... but nothing, it was locked. I thought it was really strange... in the meantime begin to arrive the person in charge of cleaning because it was the start of their service. She inserted her key to open the door but still nothing... the door was always locked. She turned to me and said: "uhmmm… Leila is doing her usual joke. Often She does not let us go to work." I thought she was making fun of me and with a smile, facing the door, I said aloud, "Well Leila, Now you have fun enough. We have to go to work. Could you open the door, please? ". At that moment the click of the door opening... it opened just after I said those words. None of us had touched it... "

Many Medium had their direct experiences with Leila. One of them was, Maurizio Bonfiglio. In the Theater, He did take a pen and paper and wrote "I am not a STRIA." The word "Stria" in the ancient Italian means WITCH!!
He wrote also the court's judgment during the process always in ancient italian:

“Lying on the ground the guilty is marked with burning iron on face. Cut her  nose, an ear or gouged out an eye according to the judgment and will of the authority.”

Now I ask myself the agony suffered by this poor girl... Probably Leila has not yet found peace...

Now I would like to imagine Leila like in this last picture... full of light and love... I really hope that sooner or later it will be possible for her. maybe, To tell you that She was innocent could help her.
